If you are visiting Tucson and would like to take one of the classes offered and it is not being offered during the dates of your visit, please contact me (preferably by email) and I can set one up for you. I do the wet felting any day that I have not already scheduled a workshop. The freeform and novelty yarn classes require that I block off several hours, but I am willing to do it with advance notice, even for one person. I get to spin/knit  at the same time, so it is not lost time for me. If it is a shop day, I hope you won't mind that I get you busy on something, while I help a customer in the shop.

NEW WORKSHOP: Nuno felting: May 1, 2009, 10-1. $50 includes fiber and silk. Learn the wet felting technique that allows you to make lightweight apparel - such as scarves, shawls and blouses. Netting and resist are extra, if you discover that you want to keep making nuno felt.

Nuno felting will also be offered on May 9, 2009 from 10-1. See details above.  This class can be scheduled by orivate groups for different days. I would like 2 and can accomodate a maximum of 5.

Wet Felting dates:  April 25 and May 30, 2009, 10-1 P.M. Free wet felting instruction with the purchase of fiber for a project. Usually costs between $25-60.  This class may be scheduled by a group of two or more for a day of choice. I can accomodate up to 14 at a time.

Needlefelting Classes with Stacy.  Questions: email me at jmarckathy@aol.com or Stacy at foxgloves@comcast.net. Check out Stacy's shop at http://www.pensiverabbit.com.
April 25, 2009, 10-1 will be Shelley the Snail. Reservation required.

Drop Spindle Workshops: Offered on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Free instruction with the purchase of fiber (usually about $6.) Beautifully balanced spindles are available for sale, if you find yourself hooked!

Novelty/Freeform Yarn Workshop: Scheduled upon request. This is a novelty spinning class that requires a basic knowledge of spinning. Wheels with larger orifices are recommended, but I can teach techniques for dealing with the wheel you have. Instruction including fiber and novelties is $100. Class size is limited. This class is being offered in May, 2009, through the Bisbee Fiber Arts Guild.

Freeform Knitting and Crochet/Scrumbling Workshop: Available upon request. Learn how to work outside the traditional knitting and crocheting styles to create unique garments and designs. The class size will be limited to 5. This is not a course for beginners. It requires a basic knowledge of knitting and crochet techniques. I can teach it with an emphasis on knitting or on crochet, upon request. Cost is $40 for the class. Participants receive a 10% discount on fibers purchased on the day of the class. I will cover basic construction, assembly, and some embellishment.

This scarf is the result of the Prudence Mapstone workshop. I named it the "Prudence Mapstone Sampler," since it includes almost every design element introduced by Prudence over the five-day period.

FREEFORM KNITTING AND CROCHET STUDY GROUP: Meets the first Thursday of every month.   1-4P.M. in the studio/workshop.

Beginning Crochet and Knitting instruction is free with the purchase of fiber. Scheduled upon request.

Directions to the Ranch: Go north on Thornydale. Cross Linda Vista (Safeway and Mountain View High School intersection) and take a left onto Palo Seco, which is immediately after the apartment complex and before the subdivision. The ranch is the first one on the right. Stay on Palo Seco until you see the Unique Designs sign at the second wrought iron gate (which will be open), then turn right into the parking lot.
